Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend a class on differentiating for special education students in the general music classroom. <profdevpilot>
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom involves staying on my toes and constantly adapting to changing environments. My students have a wide variety of needs that I must meet.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Education and a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education with Special Education endorsement.
I teach Kindergarten through fifth grade general music and have an after school choir and music club in the district where I have taught for the past 7 years. I also taught music in another district for one year and private preschool for five years.
My Project
I am requesting tuition for a course in teaching students with special needs in a music classroom. This class will help me to combine the knowledge I have gained from both of my degree programs and use it to help the many students with disabilities that I teach. As a general music teacher, I teach all students in the school. I have many students with physical disabilities in my classes as well as students with Autism and other learning disabilities. My classes include students of all different ability levels and I believe this class will give me knowledge and skills to help meet all of their needs.
Your donation will help me to take a course that is essential to my continuing certification as well as improve my ability to provide for the needs of my many students with special needs.
