This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Distance learning is so different from regular school. I miss communicating and seeing my students on a daily basis. Since March 23rd my students have been learning remotely from home and will not be returning back for the academic year. During this time of remote learning, access to high-quality devices is very important. The iPad Pro, keyboard, pencil, and headphones with mic will help with our necessary 21st-century teaching skills, especially during this pandemic. Having this powerful tool will enhance my teaching as well as enhance my students' learning. Many of my students are suffering from anxiety, depression, financial situations as we are located in the state of NY that has the highest death and cases of this pandemic. My students are participating continuously in remote learning, and this iPad will help with their Spanish instruction at the high school level.

My Project

With this iPad Pro and keyboard, I will be able to turn it into a digital whiteboard. The iPad will enable me to use the digital whiteboard function in order to continue to keep students engaged in their Spanish lessons throughout our interactions. We are currently experiencing a time in which all of our interaction is done through online meetings and Google Classroom. I can record my screen, and with the help of the Apple Pencil, annotate and model on worksheets and other texts. I will be using the iPad in order to create visual tools to enhance my online lessons. This will include interactive graphic organizers and visual vocabulary lessons. I will also download apps that work well in remote learning environments. In addition to remote teaching, I will be using this both in the classroom and at home to accommodate this new world of distance learning. An iPad will also give me the ability to give instant feedback when they are working from home. Having the technology to easily work side-by-side with the students online and being able to work and write with them in real-time this year and going forward, will be an amazing experience for both the students and me.
