My Students

How many students want to be in a classroom where they experience a hands-on approach for every concept they are being taught? I know I would! I understand that this year will look very different in the schools than ever before though. Our students will have to learn how to practice social distancing and wear masks on a daily basis, which I predict will be very hard for some. Some will even be virtual students. I want my students and their parents to feel safe when their child is in my classroom each and every day. My scientists, mathematicians, journalists, graphic designers, and engineers deserve that and so much more! One way to achieve this is to provide my students with materials that will allow them to be more safe while also learning as much as possible, which includes having the materials they need to do both.

I teach 52 of the brightest, most amazing third graders ever!

Many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunches. I have gifted students, students with IEP's, extremely active students, shy students, funny students, serious students, students with supportive parents, and some with little support at home.

My Project

With today’s schools practicing social distancing because of the pandemic, our students must remain in their homeroom classroom the entire day, and us teachers must rotate to the different classrooms to teach all of the third grade students at our school. In order to stay organized and carry all of my necessary supplies and materials with me to each classroom, I need a mobile cart to hold all of my materials in.

Since the technology in my classroom must stay in my room for the other third grade teachers to use, I need a document camera that is portable so it can easily be brought from classroom to classroom.

A document camera is essentially a modern version of the old overhead projector systems. Except it's not only more versatile but it can also work remotely across an internet connection, allowing you to work with more people than just those in the room with you. One of the most important benefits of a document camera is that it gives students the ability to learn in different ways. We know that not all students learn in the same style. This gives teachers the ability to easily instruct students in both ways and ensure that more students feel engaged in the lesson regardless of their learning style. Document cameras also allow us as teachers to be more productive. Instead of creating additional materials to help students prepare for exams, we can record lessons, scan documents, and easily share materials right from our previous lessons. This gives us more time to focus on our students and make the most of the time in the classroom.

We also need hand sanitizer to help decrease the chances of our students getting sick while at school and decrease the spread of germs.
