Our school has a long history of strong parental support and amazing teachers. We are a small school when compared to other elementary schools in Long Beach. There are three classes at each grade level. Students from JFES come from diverse backgrounds, both socially and economically.
By incorporating 21st-century skills in the classrooms, we are committed to teaching students advanced lessons that will enable them to become life-long learners.
Our students are inquisitive, eager, and enthusiastic learners who are willing to stay beyond the school day to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Through the use of Spheros, students will be able to learn different types of computer programming languages to control and operate a robotic sphere. Students can control the Spheros using drag and drop coding, java-script, or the drawing application.
Students will use their STEM skills and the engineering design process to complete challenges with the Sphero.
Challenges will be hands-on and project-based. Students will apply problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills to complete each challenge. Challenges include mazes, soccer, chariot races, and obstacle courses. Students will also be able to create their own activities to share with each other and the Sphero community.
