My students need a class set of the Wizard of Oz. In addition, our classroom library needs to become filled with more books of the genres that they are lacking.
My students come from a tiny town where everybody knows everyone else. The whole town is a community and we strive to support our children. All of our kids get free breakfast and lunch.
I have so many kids who want to read new and exciting books.
The kids see the books displayed in our classroom library which encourages them to try new books. The newer looking books are often rotated in and out of our class library the most often. While you can’t judge a book by it’s cover- colorful book covers get these kids reading. Once they have opened the first book- they might find that they like a certain genre which will lead to future reading no matter how exciting the cover appears.I want these kids to find out how far they can go in life with a good book and the wisdom that books hold.
The parents in this town would and do give everything to their kids. I want to help encourage each family and their kids in whatever way I can! Each family is brought together in different ways. I believe books are a great way to bring people together. These additional books in our classroom will open the door for bonding that may not of happened yet or possibly strengthen the bond that other families have!
I have 50 bright, energetic students who want to learn. These kids deserve the world, and I want to give it to them.
My Project
My students will use these books to fall in love with reading. Like most school, so many teachers have to teach for the Texas State Exam. I refuse to teach information through drill and kill or by staring at a workbook. We learn through reading real books.
Students learn English by reading books.
For our students to become the next leaders of tomorrow, they need to fall in love with learning. A reader cannot be formed unless an adult at one time put a book in front of them and showed them all the power it held. Giving these kids a chance to learn their exploration will change how they view education for the rest of their lives.
