Teaching JK Kiddos the Love of Reading

My Students

Our students cannot get enough reading - they love it that much! Our school literacy program brings students of all grades and reading levels together. Some face a variety of challenges at home and it's wonderful that our school provides a community where each student truly matters and receives the education they deserve.

We are THRILLED to have an additional Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K) joining our school community next fall.

We cannot wait to share our love of reading with our youngest students.

My Project

With the Raz-Kids and Headsprout Reading A-Z subscriptions, students at every level will be provided with more than 400 leveled eBooks and also allow our school the ability to print out books to be used during our school literacy program and Reading Buddies.

Our older or higher leveled readers will have additional ways with the phonics and sight-word games to help their pre-k kindergarten peers during reading centers.

All materials on Reading A-Z are correlated to the Common Core State Standards which will be a wonderful benefit to every student.

In addition to motivating a love of reading, children who partake in early literacy activities have more confidence than children whose Pre-K reading is not supported. Increased confidence will enable these young learners to socialize better with adults and other children. This program will also help our Junior Kindergarteners to have a longer attention span and better listening skills. If a pre-k student is able to sit and listen for longer periods as a reader, they will have the skills necessary to sustain their own reading for longer periods of time, which is imperative during the elementary school years.

By donating to this project, you are helping provide our Pre-K students with an incredible learning experience with student mentors: One of the most amazing things we can do for a child is read to them every day.
