Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love going to work everyday. I'm a math specialist that works with a third grade class. They are a very eager and knowledge seeking class. Majority of the students struggle with math, but they are hard workers, persevere, and want to learn.
For majority of the class, English is their second language.
It takes the students a little longer to understand what they are learning and complete independent tasks, but they hang in there.
They amaze me every day.
My Project
This project will help my 3rd grade mathematicians learn to be problem solvers now and in the future. The assortment of engaging problem solving tasks will help build my students’ understanding and problem solving skills. The whiteboard table will encourage my students to work collaboratively and show their thinking in an engaging way. My students love to write on dry erase boards and love showing their work in a variety of ways. These resources provide my students different types of problem solving tasks to choose from. Having so many different choices, keeps the students engaged and continuing to want to learn.
