Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are growing to be lifelong learners, and they are in need of resources to help them develop and strengthen their understanding of current events.

My second graders are bright, loving, and most importantly - unstoppable in their quest to be successful.

Their families sought out our public, charter school and put their most valuable young people in my classroom. The parents are confident in my abilities as a teacher and with these new relationships and community connections, I enter my room more prepared and driven to provide my students with the supplies in which they need.

My Project

The TIME For Kids and Scholastic News magazines I have requested will provide my students with reading materials that challenge and engage them, exercising literacy, comprehension, and creative thinking. My students will be able to each engage with the texts and use them as mentor texts to write their own nonfiction pieces. The wide selection will allow an exploration of different themes and writing styles, allowing many opportunities to be inspired and pursue a love of reading.

Your generous donations to our project will influence the lives of my students.

With your support and contribution, my students will be able to stay connected with their world and learn about other traditions, cultures, and news. They will begin to successfully and confidently navigate the current events. They will be able to focus on understanding content and concepts that exist in our world.
