Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inspiring. They are still innocent and kind. They make me want to be not only the best teacher I can be but they make me want to be a better human. To know that they are at home some without food and others without technology to do their work, breaks my heart.

If nothing comes of this effort, and all that happens is we give one little girl the laptop my family had sitting collecting dust, then that is okay.

But I firmly believe tragedy pushes human benevolence. Many times the suffering of others helps us cling onto our own humanity. We look at our children, like my students, and see their fight and drive and will to learn. We see them pushing forward through all obstacles and we know their is still hope for our species.

The fight and drive of my one student G.S. to gain access to technology and the inspiration my son Noah has shown me during COVID-19 is enough to make anyone feel passionate about giving. Who wouldn't want every child to have a small piece of technology of their own at home to be able to re-connect to the outside world?
