My Students
"THANK YOU!" That's the the best thing a teacher can hear from a student or parent. And I have heard that phrase many times from the families at our school. Our school is a small school, serving pre-kindergarten to 5th grade students. The school continues to grow each year because our students and their families are committed to our school and want to see it thrive. They are happy to be there.
Our school's positive culture is often praised by teachers, parents, and community members alike.
Being an urban school presents unique challenges, and it is the positive behavior and attitudes of the students and their families that allow us to overcome these challenges.
The teachers at our school are committed to their students, often spending their own time and money to make things extra special, including everything from starting a soccer team to buying books as rewards. The teachers work as a team, striving to increase student achievement and to prepare our students for middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
My Project
Each school year, students arrive with their new supplies. It's exciting! Each school year, the school and myself also purchase some classroom supplies. Do you remember opening a box of brand new crayons? It's something every student should get to do!
Unfortunately, in a low-income area, some students come without supplies.
Sometimes there are just not enough extras to go around. With your donation, there will be enough for each student to have the opportunity to use new supplies to be creative during their learning.
Imagine students cutting construction paper into the character or setting from a story. They'll use markers to trace big words on their posters for presentations. Students will color pictures and use them as a springboard for sentence writing as we build toward learning to write paragraphs. Little things like classroom supplies can make a big difference.
