I teach English language arts to 9 to 12 grade English as Second Language (ESL) students in a San Francisco public high school. As an educator, I strive to make my class projects and assignments a fun learning experience. I am requesting a mini-digital video camera and tapes for use in all my classes. A video camera would make learning a creative fun process for my students. We can use it to: • Capture student presentation of class projects, such as a family tree project. • Capture enactment of plays, such as Romeo and Juliet • Help students be the “star” and develop public speaking skills • Enable students to see and evaluate themselves and make improvements in learning English. With the use of a video camera, my students are more motivated to learn and have fun at the same time! Furthermore, developing speech and presentation skills will help my ESL students develop language skills and build their self-confidence. With your generous support, my students will be ready for “Lights, Camera, and ACTION”.
