My Students

Using technology makes learning fun! Help me teach my students important economic concepts with iPads!

My school is in a progressively growing rural community with total enrollment in Kindergarten through 5th grade of a little over 550 students.

The town population is approximately 66,881, with 17 elementary schools in the district. The diversity at our school comes from the economic levels with approximately 45% of our students receiving free and reduced lunches. I teach in a self-contained Kindergarten class. I have twenty-two students.

My Project

An iPad is the perfect size for a Kindergarten students' lap. The use of the iPad will allow them hands-on activities to develop an understanding of economics. They will have to choose apps that they "want" to play for fun or "need" to play to better their understanding across different areas of the curriculum. Can you just imagine them sitting in the floor with the iPad in their lap creating a project to demonstrate knowledge of the economic concepts they learned?
