Kids are so excited about using Ipads! Please help provide our class with the opportunity to use Ipads to explore economics and begin the path to becoming productive community members.
Our school is located in a university town with a population of approximately 75,000 people.
It is a K-4 school with 5 second grade classes. There are approximately 600 students with 43% of students receiving free or reduced lunches. My class has 22 students. Two students are highly mobile and have just moved into our district. 5 of my students receive weekend "Snack Packs" which are snacks that go home with students so they have food for snacks over the weekend. This service is provided by charities in our area. Also two of my students receive clothes and toys from collected from charities regularly. At least 8 of my students have limited access to technology at home. The only technology (Computers) they come in contact with is what is provided at school.
My Project
Because so many of my students have such a limited access to technology, it is important that I provide my students with the resources available to enhance and engage them in learning. Having Ipads in the classroom will give individual students the opportunity to explore the web at their fingertips. Students will be able to work in pairs and small groups to research stocks and find information on different countries and their markets. Students will gain the awareness of how economics is in everything and effects many of our daily decisions.

This will help engage my students in skills that will prepare them to be successful in a global economy. Using different types of technology, they will share what they know with other students in our school and hopefully beyond giving them a foundation to become a responsible member of our community.
