Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is ranked as a high poverty school with 99% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Most of our kids come from single-parent or severely dysfunctional homes. Keeping students excited about staying active is very challenging given their difficult home lives. Moreover, it is more difficult due to the lack of equipment for our students on our campus.
We offer sports such as flag football, soccer, basketball, softball.
The problem is that we never have equipment. Kids normally have to share them or go without the use of proper equipment.
My Project
This equipment will help our student-athletes learn the basic fundamentals of these two great sports. They will gain structure, discipline and most importantly how to rebound from failure. These sports require a lot of attention to detail.
Sports stimulate growth and lead to improved physical and emotional health.
Today, research shows that the importance of physical activity in children is stronger than ever. Sports can affect a child's development of self-esteem and self-worth. They will learn to work together and how to problem-solve. We are excited about this project and can’t wait until we get it funded. Thank you in advance.
