This year we have adopted new standards and a new math curriculum. The new Math curriculum is exciting and has a huge technology component designed to engage students and expose children to real life math connections. Unfortunately we do not have the technology for the interactive lessons.
Our school has a culturally diverse population where many students come from single family homes.
Our students qualify for 98% free and reduced lunch programs and we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for many of our students through a federal grant. Our students and families represent about 13 different languages on our campus. The families are hard working families that work minimum wage jobs but love their children and volunteer as much as they can. Our community could be described as a working class community where families look out for each other and support the events at our school to the best of their ability.
My Project
An interactive whiteboard creates an interactive and engaging environment. Interactive whiteboards integrate with other technology for a seamless and fully interactive classroom so students are always involved in lessons to help drive greater achievement. My students will be able to access lessons and connect them to real life situations. We will also be able to access the new curriculum on a new and exciting level!
As an educator I will engage my students in educational activities, such as lessons that provide standards-aligned assessment content.
I will be able to transform my classroom into a collaborative, student-centered learning environment where increased communication between students and teachers are developed. Education technology is instrumental in captivating students, engaging them in classroom activities, and assessing their understanding.
