This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I love about my students is their GRIT! Many of them come from low income families where they don’t always have the support at home that they need, but they take it upon themselves to achieve their goals! They do this by goal setting in the classroom and coming up with the steps to complete these goals.

I am also proud of the diversity that my students bring into our classroom.

They are proud of where they come from, and they love to share their culture with me and with others.

My Project

These items will make a difference in my students learning by teaching them about character traits and emotions.

My school focuses on a different character trait each month and these books would be a great addition to all of the discussions I have with my students.

We spend the first 10-15 minutes of each day discussing these character traits and how to embody them in our own lives.

I would also like to use books about different emotions in my classroom because I have found that my students do not always understand the emotions they are going through and they have trouble explaining how they are feeling. These books will help them understand that these emotions are okay and it will educate them on how to deal with these emotions as well.
