Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are full of potential and smiles. They have disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, and/or emotional disorders but their motivation, love of learning, and participating do not let any developmental limitations become a challenge for them. They are full of energy and are always trying their best regardless of the situation we are facing. For most of my students, the classroom activities are their only outlet to socialize, have some exposure to the outside world, have a sense of belonging, and stay active during these difficult moments. Every day, I hold my students to high standards because I know they are capable of great things.
My Project
Having a computer will allow me to motivate my students to participate, stay active, provide, and present them with meaningful material and promote overall learning.
Acquiring a computer would benefit the students for the purpose of reaching them and presenting them with the necessary academic tools as they learn in these unprecedented times.
Remote learning requires many downloads, uploads as I run a Google classroom. Many of my lessons are supported by videos that we get from YouTube or record ourselves as teachers in order to help them to continue to learn. As a school, we still have to generate talent shows, video presentations, video conferences such as Google Meets, Microsoft Teams meetings, Zoom life sessions, assessments, etc. A new device will also allow me to keep myself up to date with the latest and most beneficial material available for students.
In addition, not only are you helping me reach my students but also helping the parents that have been home for the last few months and who depend on my support as a teacher to provide them with the material, behavior plans, routines, etc. I need a new computer to be able to effectively help my students improve their engagement level, and their overall learning.
