Help me give my students these printmaking and 3D art resources. As part of a developing choice-based classroom, the more resources for exploration I can provide my students, the better.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I primarily teach 3rd through 5th grade art in a school full of students with a lot of potential, a diverse set of skills, and a desire to try as many creative outlets as I can give them. Our school puts a lot of emphasis on the arts and involvement in the community, and that's visible in the work my students produce. My job is to ensure they get as many opportunities to create with their strengths and skills as possible.
My Project
I've started slowly implementing choice into my classroom and these supplies will help my students continue to grow independently as artists.
Monoprinting has become one of the most popular media choices in my room thus far.
I believe that the students should get access to the appropriate materials, and my supply of printmakinging ink is rapidly dwindling due to the volume of artwork they're making.
The Keva wooden building blocks will help my students developing spatial awareness and structural skills. Many of the students want to do more three-dimensional work but my current supply of magnetic tiles and blocks cannot nearly accommodate their desire.
The Draw! 3-D and Draw! Dinosaurs books and neon paint will add options to my repertoire of independent media choices. More options will provide greater flexibility for the students to develop, engage, envision, stretch and explore.
