My Project
At our School, we are committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for our students. We are creating a cool-down space for students in our elementary school LEAP program to serve as a peaceful and supportive environment to manage their emotions, reduce stress, and enhance their overall well-being.
The purpose of our Cool-Down Space is simple yet impactful.
We want to provide a designated area equipped with comfortable seating, calming visuals, sensory tools, and resources that can help our students regulate their emotions and find peace during moments of distress or overwhelm. By offering this safe haven, we hope to equip our students with valuable coping skills that will benefit them not only during their school years but throughout their lives. Being able to sit in a bean bag chair, read a book, or have access to fidget toys will help our students regain control over big emotions.
This cool-down space will promote mental health and enhance learning since a calm, centered mind is more able to learn. It also fosters a caring community, and teaches students that emotions are not "good" or "bad," and how you deal with them is important.
