My Students
Curious. Excited. Thoughtful. Inquisitive. Happy. Playful. Those are just a few words to describe my first graders. They are at such a fun age! Everything is new and exciting, which makes teaching that much more rewarding.
My first graders are at a young, impressionable age and part of my job is to create lifelong learners.
These early years are the foundation of their education and I want to instill a love of learning now so that they continue to pursue education with the same passion they have now.
My Project
Technology is very prevalent in today's world. We text, email, tweet, post to social media and blog. As a first grade teacher, I teach my students to read, write, add and subtract, but it's more than that. It's teaching life skills and how to be productive members of society.
Building a foundation for a love of learning means making sure students are engaged.
There are many ways to do this, but the use of technology is always a win! However, it's not just about playing fun games on an iPad; I have to be purposeful in the ways I enhance their learning. Putting iPads in the hands of students IS fun, but it's also educational, creative and inspiring.
