I am so grateful for another exciting school year at our elementary school. We are a Title I school district, meaning there is a high economic need in our community.
Our theme is Learning is Sweet, and we are having fun with this theme in our classrooms for our little superstars this school year.
Our school is unique because of our diverse staff and student body. Our school district can best be described as one happy family. Thirty-three languages are spoken throughout the district. My students are special because they are immersed in an environment where we teach them academics and how to embrace the diverse student body.
Learning is happening all over our school. In the classroom, students are learning required content; however, outside the classroom, students have art, physical education, and music. The students have opportunities to see the ballet, visit the animals at the zoo, attend heritage assemblies, etc. I always say there is never a dull moment at our school and the students enjoy their time here.
There has been a major transition for myself and my students as we cope with virtual learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Everyone was forced to transition from traditional learning to using technology to communicate.
Having access to technology is essential to reach our students and parents during these trying times.
I am requesting one iPad to help me communicate with my students and parents. Once we are back in school this iPad will be used in the classroom so my students can take their online assessments and have access to educational and engaging games that add to their learning experience. Our students are required to test monthly using technology and I do not see this changing in the futre. My personal iPad for the classroom is a first generation, therefore, it is very old and it time for my students to have an updated iPad in the classroom.
In addition to the iPad, I am requesting charger cable cords to keep our devices charged. I am also requesting a variety of regular and colored pencils so my students will have pencils for their home learning care packages I am making for them. Some of my students do not have pencils at home, therefore, I want to make certain they have what they need to complete their work when writing is required.
Thank you for supporting teachers as we continue to teach our students during these unprecedented times. On behalf of my students, I thank you for reading my project and supporting us as we continue to work hard for our students.
