Help me give my students 3D printing filament, paint, and foam balls so they can complete their abstract art exhibit, which educates others about women in Afghanistan.
My students are a diverse group of students: ethnically, socioeconomically, and academically. There is a large achievement gap between them, and some of my students are three or four grade levels behind in reading. The ones who struggle with reading are easily frustrated, but they are still eager to learn and want to succeed. They are hard workers who are lacking the needed resources that will help them develop their reading and critical-thinking skills.
Our school is home to three programs: the regular school program, STEM, and Health Sciences.
We have just over 1,300 students, and we are gaining more each day as Concord is one of the fastest-growing areas in North Carolina.
My Project
The 3D filament, paint, and Styrofoam balls will enable students to complete abstract art projects they are creating for their class art museum. After reading a novel about Afghan women, the students will be creating abstract art structures to be incorporated into an entire class exhibit meant to educate others about the culture of Afghanistan.
There are a lot of stereotypes and fear associated with the people of Afghanistan, and these projects will enable my students to enlighten others of the misinformation.
Some students chose to 3D print their art pieces while others chose to use paint, cardboard, and Styrofoam shapes. These materials will help students create the best art pieces for their museum.
