Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are English language learners who live in an urban area in Los Angeles where gang activity is constant. They live in small rented homes or converted garages, often with their extended family. Every student qualifies for free breakfast and lunch.
Despite their obstacles, my first grade students are excited about their future, are college-bound, and work hard every day to achieve their goals.
They love learning and come to school asking, "What are we going to learn today?"
My Project
The pandemic forced me to embrace technology. Having changed grade levels this year and seeing the benefit of lessons that integrate technology, I find myself with the daunting task of creating digitally enhanced lessons for all of my curriculum. Unfortunately, I am limited my own knowledge of creating digital content as well as the time needed to create it.
A TPT gift card will enable me to purchase resources that will digitally enhance my lessons.
With a TPT gift card, I will be able to purchase digital resources that supplement my instruction in science and social science. I have noticed that students are more engaged when the graphics complement the instruction as well as when a digital interactive component is included.
