My Students

I am fortunate to provide math support to several diverse groups of students and teachers in the primary grade levels. These amazing students have their own strengths, talents, and uniquenesses, and are just beginning their journeys towards greatness.

I truly believe that these children are our future.

But, I also know that every child learns differently and has his/her own unique set of needs. Some are in need of enrichment opportunities to continue to grow and develop their abilities to reason and problem solve. Some need extra scaffolding and support to help them fully understand concepts. Some are struggling to understand the language and meaning behind these mathematical steps. And some just need to know they can do it. It is my job to get to know the strengths and needs of each of these students and provide them and their teachers with the resources and support they need to be successful mathematicians.

My Project

I am requesting money to help me attend the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference. This year, as a math intervention teacher, I am privileged to provide support to our youngest learners through both co-teaching and pull-out intervention models. In addition, I provide support to the classroom teachers of these students during weekly collaborative learning and professional development sessions.

Attending this conference would give ME the professional development I need to support THEM.

By learning from experts in mathematics education, I will gain the knowledge necessary to be able to meet the diverse needs of the learners I work with, as well as the ability to pass on this understanding to these students' classroom teachers. By becoming more familiar with current best practices, resources, and strategies, I can ensure that I, and the teachers I work with, are doing what's best for the young mathematicians we support every day.
