Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am lucky enough to have 24 eager third graders who are ready to learn each and every day in my class. Our urban school is composed of 75% second language learners with students coming from South American countries such as Columbia, El Salvador, and Peru. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

As a teacher, I feel it is important to be a model of continuous learning.

Many of my students have families who are do not speak English well or are illiterate. I want to be a model that helps inspires them to love learning and persevere through rigorous work.

My Project

Teachers are role models for students. They need to show them that learning is continuous and no matter how old we are or how much we know, there's always more to learn!

Professional books are resources that keep on giving.

That's why I am interested in a variety of literacy professional texts to introduce me to additional methods and strategies to teach literacy. I can use these resources in reading and writing to read and go back to over and over again to improve my instruction. Having these texts will help my students and I move into the future together!
