The students I teach are in middle school grades 6th through 8th.
My students are given an opportunity to learn about art, experience art, question art, and create their own art.
Students are encouraged to make their own meaning out of the art and have fun creating their own masterpieces!
My student population is diverse and has a wide range of learning abilities. They are a mixed bunch of general education, special education as well as gifted and talented students. In addition, about 50% of the student population receives free lunch.
In the time of COVID-19, I've been focusing more on digital projects that can be accomplished with computer and free drawing applications. The fact is in my school district, not all students have the art supplies we use in class; many don't even have the basics like crayons and paper. However, students were provided with computers, and with those computers, students can still receive quality art education.
Teachers Pay Teachers is an important resource for digital art projects put together by the very experts in the field, the teachers.
Projects found on Teachers Pay Teachers will be specifically used to address the shift in classroom learning to digital learning. Having developed and used an in-person curriculum for the past four years and now changing to fully virtual learning has been a huge learning curve. I spend many hours scouring the internet for suitable digital projects that I could find and utilize with ease on Teachers Pay Teachers. The added benefit is that I'm also helping fellow teachers. We are all in this together and we need to lean on each other to make it through this "new" educational environment.
