I am beyond excited to start this journey with my students! I am a first year teacher who has not had the opportunity to meet my students yet as it is June. That has not stopped me from making sure I am prepared to meet all of their needs. I know that each one of them deserves the best education possible so I have worked hard to make sure I can be the one to provide that. Now that I have the skills - I need the medium to perform those skills! I am counting down the days until I meet the students that I know I will love so much.
My Project
Since this is my first year teaching I am trying to gather as many supplies for my classroom as possible. I have collaborated with many retiring teachers, libraries, community members, etc. to supply a lot of my needs for books, pencils, etc. but I still need a substantial amount of supplies to have my classroom ready for August!
I want my classroom to be warm and welcoming.
I want to make sure students feel safe and able to make mistakes. Some of these items are just basic run of the mill classroom materials. Others I need to make this warm environment happen. I will use the big rug as my carpet that we meet on several times a day. The 3 little rugs will be in my book area to make it bright and fun. We will use the book bins during reading to move throughout the room carrying the materials they need during that time. The name plates will be personalized and used to tally the lunch count in the morning. There are several other items that will help me hang up my students work to make the room feel like their own!
