This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I public school. I work with about 50 bilingual students each year teaching 3rd Grade Math/Science/Social Studies. My students are bright and eager to learn new things. They soak up knowledge like a sponge and are very active learners.

My students have been home since March 13.

In the past 5 weeks, I have connected with them using video conferencing tools. We connect daily through Microsoft Teams and we use Class Dojo to convey information and post assignments. My students have limited technology, but every day they make a good effort to connect with me one way or another. Since connecting via Microsoft Teams is not always possible for some of them, I record videos every day with the lesson.

My goal as a teacher is to continue connecting with my students and keeping them engaged.

My Project

School closures due to COVID-19 have forced me to teach from home in unconventional ways. I'm grateful for the technology background and experiences I have had thanks to professional development that has prepared me for something so unexpected like working from home through the use of online resources.

In order to be more effective, I need a printer to prepare mini anchor charts that I can send my students.

I'm teaching through Microsoft Teams using the school laptop, but I need a wireless mouse to help me write during the lessons on the Microsoft Teams whiteboard.

Both the printer and the wireless mouse will not online facilitate how I prepare for my lessons, but will also help me prepare lessons for the students that are struggling to connect with me in our virtual lessons.
