Teacher-Made Learning Games for Prekindergarten--Imperative for Online Learning
Help me give my students materials for learning that will be used to make a variety of learning games to send home since we are currently learning in class together 100% online.
My students come from diverse backgrounds. Many of them are enrolled in Head Start, too. For most of them, prekindergarten is their first school experience; their first experience away from their families; and their first experience making friends.
They WANT to learn and they are eager to participate in everything that is presented to them.
The "tricky stuff" is introduced to them through games and through play since this is how children learn best. They are learning to take risks as the try new things and they are not afraid to try. They are happy to come to school and want to come back tomorrow!
My Project
These materials will be used to help me make a variety of learning games for my students. The games will provide a fun way to learn while we are in class online together during the COVID-19 pandemic. The students will bring the materials such as dice, linking cubes, pom-poms, and counting bears to online class each day to help us interact together while playing math games. The clipboards will provide them with a personalized writing board that will help motivate them to WANT to draw and write. The dry erase crayons and craft sticks will provide us with more tools for learning about letters and writing them. The students will be able to play the games with their families when class is over, which will give them additional practice as they learn new skills.
It is imperative that these young students have materials in their hands to help keep them interested in learning; eager to try; and WANTING to participate in class.
