My Students

My students come from all different backgrounds and are enthusiastic learners. The majority of my students are from low-income homes and I typically have 6-8 different cultures represented in my classroom.

My students love hands-on learning experiences that allow them to take an active role in learning.

Learning extends outside of our classroom to our "kinder-garden" and outdoor classroom. Weekly cooking lessons provide students with unique learning opportunities while filling bellies. My students learn life and communication skills through these lessons.

My Project

This conference will allow me to further build my personal learning network. This conference provides sessions hosted by the nation's top teachers and leaders. The sessions are focused on social and emotional learning for both students and teachers, teacher leadership, best practices, and the future of education.

I hope to learn new teaching strategies through collaboration with state teachers of the year that I can bring back to my classroom to impact my students.

Social and emotional learning is an aspect of learning that I am hoping to gain more confidence in as well as integrate into my classroom more effectively.
