My Students

I have the unique opportunity to teach an awesome group of students. We may not be the most affluent school as we are completely Title I and all students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. However, my students show massive heart and compassion and have a love for the classroom.

The drive and determination that my students display gives me hope and a determination to be a better teacher.

Though I have been in education for over 20 years, I know there are things I can try to do to bring the students further along. I couldn't be more blessed to work with them every day.

My Project

Quite simple, the reality is this. COVID really has done a number on students and teachers. As both have had to learn how to adjust to a new world with this pandemic it has required a shift in learning and teaching. One of the biggest obstacles for teachers, has been the heavy lift of moving all of our years of teaching into an online environment. Good news, is that I love technology and have always used it so moving online is/was not much of an issue. What I am missing in order to really served my students is a laptop that I can use both in class and at home. Something easy to transport, easy to use, and easy to complete tasks when remote learning pops up with quarantining a large reality. The school I teach at is a Title 1 school. The good news is that funds were provided to outfit each student at my school with a Chromebook and charger. Very easy for the kids to use, transport, and complete online work.

With this project I will be much better equipped and mobile in order to serve the students I teach, from either home or at school.

I will have a chance to always be charged up, connected, and online ready to meet the needs in these challenging times.

This will give the me the opportunity to not miss a beat. Also, in the event of quarantining or remote learning, I will be better equipped to meet their ever increasing needs.
