Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students deserve the best from me each day. When I feel good, my students feel good. I set high expectations for my students. I want them to put their best foot forward. Many come from a diverse home environment such as poverty, divorce, or abuse so coming to school is an opportunity to escape. School is their home away from home.

My students are special because despite their struggles, their diversity is what brings us together.

We are able to connect with each other through our similarities and differences. We are a school family.

My Project

Two days of professional development are offered on this cruise. I will participate in sessions that include building a strong classroom community, engagement through music, creating a fun and safe learning environment, and learning which books to share in my classroom and integrate in my lessons. The final night of the cruise features an event with special guest, Gerry Brooks!

I am ready to Teach My Heart Out!

A conference like this will inspire me to implement ideas in my classroom I never thought were possible. I plan to return and share what I've learned with my colleagues. I always tell my students they can do anything they set their mind to. Getting to collaborate and travel will enhance my professional development.
