Have you ever started your day with a light breakfast and found yourself needing a little snack to get you through until lunch? Students can work up a wild appetite as they dig deep into their learning. They need snacks high in fiber and slow-burning carbs like Cheez-Its or something a little sweeter like gummies.
Students cannot be the super learners that I know them to be while hungry.When students are hungry their focus cannot be at 100%.
They can become distracted and lose forward momentum. By fueling their body with something tasty whether it's sweet or savory, they can keep their momentum up.
My students are in fourth grade, which means growth spurts and big appetites. While I try to limit snacking to a healthy level, I never want them to have to sit in my room and be unfocused due to being hungry.
