This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a No Excuses University (NEU) school, where each classroom has chosen a college to promote with college-themed decor, college chants, and the promotion of the idea that college is an attainable option for all, if they so choose.

Our fifth grade San Diego State Aztecs are today's scholars and tomorrow's leaders, and we have a diverse group of students who are motivated to learn in a collaborative setting.

My Project

Our fifth grade team has decided to create a book tasting event! With three classrooms participating, each teacher will choose a theme, and students will be given a passport to learning which they will collect stamps for at each session.

At the Aztec Cafe, students will be introduced to classic literature at six stations, each one representing a different genre, where they will ‘taste’ and review available books.

To me, great books have always tasted like sunshine—filled with warmth, joy, and adventures. My wish is to assist my students in discovering the taste of sunshine, as well! Please help our students go on an adventure of a lifetime by discovering everything great stories have to offer and by helping me create the most engaging environment for our genre journey at the Aztec Cafe!

Everything we are requesting is to create the perfect atmosphere for our event. The tablecloths, flowers, and candles will adorn the tables. The chef/teacher will greet and seat students dressed in the apron and hat, and guests/students will be seated at tables with ‘chef specials’ printed on the table cards and displayed in the place card holders.

I am honored you chose our project to read, to donate, and hopefully both. Thank you so much for your kindness in helping my students reach for the stars and taste the sunshine!
