This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This school is a middle city school with many different economic and cultural backgrounds.

My students are asked to provide supplies which might be financially hard for them to get. Our school is a Title I school, and every bit of donation goes a long way. My students are driven to always do their best, but they struggle. They need financial and emotional support from their community to help them meet their true potential.

My Project

My students and I had a talk at the beegininning of the year about health and fitness. Even though I teach math, I am also a coach and a mother so I understand the importance of being healthy all day long. We came up with some goals and rewards we would like to compete for this year.

Inspired by my students conversations I asked them what they would like to help them with their goals, this is what I received as responses: My students have requested five more wobble chairs for our room.

This would ensure that at least five students would be working out all time. They have also requested materials to keep track of their daily fitness outside of class (they will be working on charting and graphing the results which is a 6th grade tek). They will use the chart paper and markers to keep track of their progress. Once they complete certain goals the students will receive tickets. Finally they have requested healthy snacks as rewards, that they will pay for with the tickets, for their hard work keeping active and fit, as well as a place for me to keep them that is up off the floor and away from critters! Please help make our fitness dreams a reality.
