Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low socioeconomic and often rough area of Los Angeles. Although they do not live in the best of neighborhoods, I strive to give them the best education for a brighter future.
My students are 25 energetic, inquisitive, smart 5-6-year-old students from diverse backgrounds in the dual language program.
They consist of 50% English Language Learners with a Latino background and 50% English only students with Latino and African American backgrounds. I love that my students are diverse in their backgrounds and in their Spanish abilities. They are able to learn from each other as they begin their journey into bi-literacy and bilingualism.
My Project
Teachers Pay Teachers is a great site for teachers to purchase resources specific to the grade level, skill being taught, or subject area. The best part is that they are made by teachers, so I know that they are quality items.
This project would help me to get more resources for my current and future students.
As a teacher teaching multiple subject areas and teaching in the dual language program, it is sometimes difficult to find good resources that provide students a good opportunity to practice something new.
Creating a new resource or activity oftentimes takes a good amount of time that I just don't have. With this gift card, I would be able to get a variety of resources, from activities that allow my students to practice reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. I also love that this site contains many resources in both English and Spanish. Teachers Pay Teachers is like a treasure box for teachers.
