Tapping Into Tech: Tablets for Tomorrow’s App Creators
Help me give my students tablets so they can design, test, and refine the mobile apps they create in our Computer Science Principles class — transforming them from coders into real-world innovators.

My Project
Every year, I’m blown away by the creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills my students bring to our Computer Science Principles class. They dream up incredible app ideas—tools to help their communities, games that teach, and resources for mental health support. But turning those ideas into working apps requires reliable technology.
Right now, our class is using outdated tablets that can no longer keep up.
The batteries won’t hold a charge, the devices can’t run critical software updates, and the emulator apps we rely on for testing often won’t launch at all. This creates unnecessary frustration and holds students back from fully experiencing the excitement of seeing their apps in action.
With new tablets, my students will finally be able to test and interact with the apps they build—just like real developers do. These devices will help bring their code to life, giving them a deeper understanding of user experience, functionality, and design. Most importantly, they'll gain the confidence that comes from seeing their hard work transformed into something real and usable.
