This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to explore the world through science. They tackle challenging questions by using their creativity and imagination and by participating in experiments and scientific activities. The hands-on approach pushes their thinking and allows them to think beyond what can be read and written; they surely love learning through experiences.

They take on new challenges every time they come into the classroom, but they don't always have the best resources to aid them.

This doesn't stop them, however. Each individual brings their unique personalities, interests, and strengths to the class to make learning possible. They are full of energy, ideas, and are very interested in learning but the right resources may just make their experience more meaningful. During class, students use these diversities to engage in great conversations and lead to new ideas and deeper understanding. Thank you - 6th grade students of PS/MS 095.

My Project

I am creating a center where students will have access to resources that will help them be successful. The station will have pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, and a section dedicated to previous classwork and homework assignments.

Students are always asking to make up work.

Therefore, it only makes sense to give them an opportunity to catch up on work that they have missed. Additionally, they are always breaking points, using the last bit of eraser, and losing and lending their pencils, so having a wealth of resources will set them up to be successful. I would rather a student who focuses on doing the work than a student focusing on finding a pencil.
