At our Title I middle school, you would never guess some of the many challenges our students face. Despite 10% of our population being homeless and 85% functioning with 3-4 risk factors, our students come through the doors every day with terrific attitudes and work ethic.
I am proud to be part of helping our racially diverse population of students be empowered and successful.
86% of the 7th and 8th graders here are low income and receive free or reduced lunch, and yet they are among the most brilliant middle school students one could meet.
My Project
We use tape CONSTANTLY in our classroom. Our math notebooks are something we use every week - sometimes multiple times a week. There are many inserts and foldables that get taped into our notebooks, but the refillable tape dispensers I use now are weak and hard to refill.
Help me provide for my student's sturdy tape dispensers to help our taping process go more smoothly.
Our current tapes are refillable but so many have broken that it's hard to get the tape to every student. Not only that, but I have students who have dexterous issues that would have a much easier time using a tape dispenser that can sit on a table.
