This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Walking into our school, you will find a diverse group of kids. Many of my students are English language learners, which means they are learning how to read, write, and speak English.
Our classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.
We are a Title I school, and our whole school gets free breakfast and lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn the skills necessary to be ready for middle school and beyond.
My Project
We are looking forward to in person instruction after the holidays, and I want to be prepared with engaging math activities using tangrams. Students love to manipulate and explore shapes, size, and symmetry with tangrams. When we return, students will need to have their own set of manipulatives to participate in such activities because of safety protocols.
Our classroom incentive program helps students learning about hard work and our economy.
Students earn "class money" through completing assignments and good behavior. Then they have the opportunity to spend their hard earned money on a myriad of items in our class store. This is why paper money is needed. The chart paper is for engaging group projects, and the technology is to help students excel in their reading.
