My students with autism are amazing. I am a special day teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am trying to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are excited to explore and learn to expand their capacity for critical thinking.
They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
My Project
My students with autism are hands on learners. Tangrams are a great tool to help them learn geometric shapes, spatial relationships, and problem-solving skills. The dot markers will help my students improve their fine motor skills.
Tangrams can help my students develop hand-eye motor skills while learning geometry.
My students love to play games which make math fun and engaging. Tangrams will help build a positive relationship with math and develop an understanding of how geometric shapes can be decomposed. The dot markers will be used for skill focused activities as well as free creative expression.
