Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 550 kids physical education daily. In our school, we serve Pre-K through 5th grade students in a low socioeconomic area. Our school is a Title I school and our entire school population receives free lunch and breakfast daily.
My students are full of life and energy.
They love to be outside and are eager to learn new sports. Currently, we want to learn how to play a variety of sports so my students learn that there is a sport for everyone and also to promote an active, healthy lifestyle. My students have a strong desire to learn to play different sports, but lack the equipment and knowledge to do so.
My Project
I am requesting one heavy duty jump rope cart for our gym. This cart is amazing. This new jump rope cart will allow the students to hang their new jump ropes in an orderly fashion. It has a place for all the jump ropes to be stored nicely without getting all twisted up and intertwined. When our jump ropes are stored in an organized way, it optimizes our students physical education time.
Currently, our jump ropes are all tangled up and stored in a sports bag.
The children spend half of the physical education time trying to untangle the jump ropes from each other. This new jump rope cart will maximize the time that the students are able to be active jumping rope and promote a healthier lifestyle.
