it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm starting an exciting new chapter in my teaching career! After four years as a Special Education teacher, I'm returning to my original passion: American Sign Language. Kicking off the 2025-2026 school year, I'll be launching the first ASL program at FHS - an opportunity that has already been generating excitement throughout the student population!
Every student, regardless of their background or ability, deserves access to meaningful and and engaging academic experiences.
That's why I've thoughtfully considered the listed materials to ensure our classroom is ready for success. From ASL-specific materials like fingerspelling flashcards and word searches, these items will help students build stronger receptive skills, which is an essential element for learning any sign language.
Though I have yet to meet my students, I've heard that ASL is already being talked about in the school, so I am eager to meet the energy and curiosity they're bringing to this new world language program! Serving a historically underfunded school, I am committed to making the most of every resource to create an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment.
