The table also visually creates more equal standing -- my coteacher has her own space rather than a tiny, movable desk. We clearly both run the classroom now! \r\n\r\nThis table is a space that allows my students to ask for help without drawing attention to themselves. It also eases our jobs as the instructor by creating an island where one-on-one or small-group intervention can take place, rather than us having to pursue every student at their own desk.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your aid and for the impact it will bring both instructor and student alike.","fullyFundedDate":1762824374257,"projectUrl":"project/accessibility-island-a-kidney-table-fo/9887254/","projectTitle":"Accessibility Island - A Kidney Table for my Kids!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10347323"},{"teacherId":10263507,"projectId":9717334,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and believing in our students. Your generosity has already made a meaningful impact on the way students show up, create, and engage with their learning.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using these resources in a project called Pieces of Me, where students explore identity through drawing, symbolism, and personal storytelling. Having access to high-quality drawing paper has made a noticeable difference. Students are more willing to slow down, take risks, and invest care into their work because the materials feel worthy of their ideas. Several students have commented on how much easier it is to layer, shade, and revise, and that confidence is clearly reflected in their drawings.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. There was a lot of curiosity, thoughtful questions, and genuine enthusiasm about what we would be creating next. What stood out most was how seriously students treated the supplies. For many of them, having professional-quality materials communicated that their work matters, and that sense of pride set the tone for the entire project.\r\n\r\nAs we wrap up Pieces of Me, we are beginning a new unit that introduces paint and clay, and the anticipation has been incredible. Students are already sketching ideas, talking through plans, and asking thoughtful questions about technique and process. A few of my after-school art students have even begun planning their clay projects on their own time, which speaks volumes about their engagement and excitement.\r\n\r\nAlongside this, we've also been incorporating recycled art projects using cardboard and found materials, encouraging students to problem-solve, collaborate, and think creatively about how everyday materials can be reused with intention.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our students the opportunity to create, experiment, and grow as artists. Your support reaches far beyond materials — it helps build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning that students will carry with them long after the project ends.","fullyFundedDate":1758829828698,"projectUrl":"project/essential-art-supplies-for-big-ideas/9717334/","projectTitle":"Essential Art Supplies for Big Ideas","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Darby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10263507_orig.png?crop=600,600,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757973683435","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10263507"},{"teacherId":9726479,"projectId":9063067,"letterContent":"I wish you could see the looks on each student's face after I say, \"Yes,\" when they ask for something as simple as a snack or piece of candy. They are truly amazed that I don't want anything from them. Everyone has the mentality that you can't be given anything unless you have something to give back. No one wants to just do something to benefit someone else. Thank you for enabling me to be someone they feel comfortable coming to and communicating with for a little bit of joy. \r\nMost students today have their heads down all the time looking at their phones. They are uncomfortable and unfamiliar with verbally communicating with others, especially adults. All I ask of them is to tell me their name, ask politely, and use their manners afterwards. It is amazing how fast word travels when kids know they can get a free snack. But they have to step outside of that comfort zone to ask. I love learning their names and connecting with them. They are starting to ask how my day has been and opening up when they are having a hard time. As someone who didn't always have someone to talk to as a teen, I feel blessed to be in this position. But it would never have been possible without your support. \r\nThank you so very much for your generosity! The sensory items have been a blessing to some of my students who need a way to express their anxiety and frustration in a healthy way. They are able to use the stress balls to release some of that tension. The weighted shoulder wraps have been so calming for those who need it.\r\nOur world would be a better place if we all tried to live each day trying to bless someone else's.","fullyFundedDate":1739560194298,"projectUrl":"project/essentials-for-care-motivation/9063067/","projectTitle":"Essentials for Care & Motivation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Havaich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9726479"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75131","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2311,"numTeachers":147,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":75131,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Freedom High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Freedom High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/prince-william-county-public-schools/freedom-high-school/75131"}
