Theatre kids are the best students in the whole world. The techie's backstage are the best of the theatre kids. Techie's need tape. Gaffer's Tape is the stage manager's secret weapon. It is used backstage in every theatre in the nation and we need some more in ours.
Students at our schools come from very challenging backgrounds.
We have 72% Free and Reduced Lunch and many of our kids struggle with extreme poverty. Our building was built in the early 60s and has not been updated since. The facilities are lacking many basic aspects of a functioning theater. Many Theater students specifically come to the performing arts as an outlet, a way of escape. Our program provides opportunities for students to be featured on stage and gives them a new way to confidently approach all of the challenges in their life
My Project
This amazing tape may seem like a small item but it is the difference between a stage disaster and a successful show. There are endless uses in the theatre for this little roll of black magic but it is also quiet costly for our zero budget program. Our students will use this item to be resourceful with what we have and to keep our kids and equipment safe.
Gaffer's tape will be use immediately and constantly over the course of our year.
With it our properties manager will craft props and our stage hands will secure cords. This necessary equipment will keep our theater department going.
