My Students

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly" this B. Fuller quote is the way our classroom operates. We are part of a top rated school that celebrates inclusion and whatever I need to help reach our goals. I teach 3 rotations of 4th graders with full inclusion and ELL students. As my students reach their goals in my classroom they are building a sense of community and self motivation that can only be from believing in themselves. My classroom is about building skills to be independent and life long learners. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, discussing with our groups, creating a depth of knowledge that is student led, and accessing general education content in different ways to meet the needs of all. We celebrate together and we strive for progress not perfection.

My Project

TIME magazine offers an engaging way to support students in ELA. Informational texts are used in all subject areas to serve as the foundation of reading skills. Giving the students an alternative to reading on the computer or reading the curriculum provided texts will help remediate the skills lost over the pandemic during the past school year. Physically using guided reading strips and different colored highlighters to serve the purpose of annotating different aspects will allow students a way to have hands on learning. The color coded skills also tie to our writing strategies and also the digital highlighting option. Providing a fun an innovated informational text the student can really enjoy reading. Hopefully building a love of literacy in all genres.
