My Project

These hands-on phonics tools will enable my students to engage with connecting phonics (sound) based language to written language. As the Science of Reading has changed the way we teach it also changes the tools our students need. Every tool that is present in my classroom is treated with care so that each year we are able to build a wonderful library of tools for our students. My students are never more engaged than when they are using hands-on learning tools, regardless of the subject we are learning.

It is not telling students what to read, but teaching them how to read then letting them find what sparks their personal love for reading and meeting them where they are at in their learning journey that is important.

These particular tools are designed with differentiation in mind. When teaching in small groups, I am able to meet each child at their current level and celebrate their progress throughout the year as they push toward meeting their personal goals.

These tools would change the way I will be able to reach my most struggling students. Every single student has the ability to learn, sometimes we just have to change how we teach them.
