Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are an energetic and eager group of 2nd graders! They have parents and guardians who work very hard to give them what they need to be successful in school. The students' reading levels cross a variety of levels and they need books to help them practice reading at their independent level.

Reading at their independent reading level will help them gain confidence and grow as readers.

Many of the students do not have books available to them at home and I strive to provide them with as many opportunities to read as possible in our classroom.

My Project

For my last Donors Choose project, I was asking for leveled books for my students to put in their individual reading boxes. These books for my second graders really have helped them move through the levels. At this time, approximately 2/3 of the class is at or above level and need more challenging leveled books. I am hoping to get an assortment of books for levels P to S for these hard working students! They are so excited to be at these levels and I couldn't be more proud of them! They love reading and can't wait to challenge themselves each day!
