My Students
Our in-person students need seating and activities to bring my classroom outside. Over 20% of our students have been relocated from all over the world as refugees. It is important for us to have some class time outside in the fresh air.
Our students are in a high poverty urban school in Maryland.
About 80% of our students are considered below the poverty line and receive free or reduced-price meals (FARMS). About 20% are coming to us through the refugee center. They have many and varied educational experiences depending on the culture they had to flee from. We also have a large number of special needs students.
My Project
These comfortable stools, step-a-trail, and sign will allow us to have a pop up classroom outside in the fresh air. We will be able to grab a seat, grab a sign and go! The logs and stumps trail will be an opportunity for our scholars to create an obstacle course, problem solve, and get some exercise as well.
During this unprecedented time, it is imperative that we spend time out of doors to get the fresh air and have a variety of learning environments.
