This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach fourth graders at a Title I STEM school. My students are amazing problem-solvers and creative thinkers that love the opportunity to collaborate in hands-on learning. Though my students fall at various academic levels, I am constantly amazed by their ability to design creative solutions to problems.
On any given day, you will usually find my students working on projects in groups using various tools and technology.
I love watching my students build community and support each other in their learning.
My Project
My students are incredibly creative and positive learners. While they need more academic support, they also need more support with their social-emotional learning.
The art supplies and new books I have requested will give students the opportunity to express themselves and make connections to others around the world.
A fun, rotating bookshelf and some magnetic bookshelves will give me the opportunity to highlight a wide variety of books that will engage my students in new genres and characters that they might not otherwise notice. I will also be able to spotlight books that relate to the SEL topics that we discuss in class.
